To Install an update with the downloads

1 Automatically from within the Program                

2 Manually From the Web Site

If you are going to download an Update you will need a password. Only current members of the User Club will be issued with passwords. We will issue notice of new updates and passwords by email to those members who have given us their email address.

Also available on the our Web site are the Software Release Notices (SRN) for each update. These are numbered, with the latest version having the highest number. If you click on the notice it will display what the latest changes are, it can also be printed directly from the web site.

The development of software is an ongoing process. By making these developments immediately available to you through this process you can, at any time, download and benefit from the latest version as soon as it becomes available. Major updates will still be supplied via CD.

Automatically

Go to Help and Download Latest Update (What to do if Download Latest Update is Gray)

This will show the Version of the Program you currently have installed.

Click "Next". This will connect to the internet and show the available Version.

(If your internet connection does not open automatically you may have to open a connection Manually)

Click "Start" to download the update. This may take a few minutes on an analog telephone connections.

Once downloaded you will be asked to click OK to install the update.

You will now need the password.

Once finished the screen will clear and you can use the program as normal.

2. Log on to our site at www.farmdata.co.uk

In the centre of the Home page there is a Hot Topics list where the updates can be located.

Select the update that you require and click on "Take Me There".

Click on "Download the Upgrade file".

There are two options,

1.    "Run this Program from its Current Location". This will load the upgrade directly from the Web Site. This takes more time on the telephone and has to be completed at this time

It will transfer the file across and go straight into the normal upgrade routine after asking for the password.

2.    Alternatively you can select the "Save to Disk" option. This will allow you to save the file on your computer and run the upgrade later.

If you are using this option select the folder to save to. If you save it to "Desktop", this will create a shortcut on your desktop called "catupd" for CATTLEdata, "finupd" for CASHdata/FINANCIALdata and "araupd" for CROPdata/IACSdata . Simply click on this and it will ask for the password and go through the normal routine of updating your program.

To Install the Update from another location you have chosen

Use Windows Explorer to get to the location where you chose to save the update.

Double click the saved update file. This will activate the Installation routine.

You will be asked for a password and the normal installation process will run.

What to do if Download Latest Update is Gray

You need to load the Auto Update software from the most recent Farmdata CD.

Put the CD into the computer and when the Installation Menu appears Select and Load the Auto Update software.
